Help

My videos will load but will not play, or they are loading very slowly

This issue relates to load speeds. Load speeds are a result of 2 factors: (1) the internal processing speed of the device being used, and (2) the speed of the internet connection. If you have an older device, it often has a slower processor and thus takes longer to load things, or if you are using a wireless router that doesn't have a big bandwidth (or has lots of other devices accessing the wireless router), it can slow down the speed with which videos load.

A video is not loading or not working

You may notice that if you have a period of inactivity, the Learning Management System (called Absorb) will log you off, but often you can't tell you've been logged off. That's because the system usually keeps you on the same screen, even after logging you off, rather than taking you back to the Login screen.

If you notice that a certain Asset is not loading or not working the way you think it should, the first step you should take is to Refresh your browser (the circle with an arrow on the address bar is the Refresh button). If Absorb has logged you out, then when you hit Refresh, it will take you back to the Login screen and you will need to enter your Username and Password to log back in.

The Activities (quizzes) are not showing/working properly

In some browsers, you may be required to enable Flash as you begin the first Activity. To allow Flash to run in your browser:

1. Click on Run Adobe

2. This will open a popup window which will ask if you want to allow Adobe Flash to run on this site

3. Choose Allow

4. If you are offered the opportunity to Remember this decision, then click in the box to Remember

5. Refresh your browser and retry the Activity

My browser is Chrome and the Activities (quizzes) are not showing/working properly

In the latest software update, Google Chrome has set the default setting to Block Flash. In some cases, you may have to change this setting each time you re-start Chrome, though in most cases, the settings will stay as you set them. So, you have two options if you run into problems with Chrome: (1) Use a different browser (2) Use Chrome and follow the steps below.

Easy Fix:

  1. Make sure that you are logged into the course
  2. At the top of the web page, click on "lock" symbol immediately to the left of the address bar to reveal the dropdown menu.
  3. In the dropdown menu to the right of Flash, choose Ask
  4. The Pop-ups and redirects dropdown menu is directly below the Flash dropdown menu. If it does not say Allow, click on the dropdown menu and change the setting to Allow.
  5. When prompted with this message "to apply your updated settings to this site, reload this page", click Reload. If the Activities still will not load, it’s time for a Standard Fix.

Standard Fix:

  1. Go to Chrome Settings by clicking the three dots in the top right-hand corner of Chrome
  2. Scroll down and click on the Settings button
  3. When you open settings, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Advanced
  4. In Advanced settings, under Privacy and Security, scroll down and open Content settings
  5. In the Content settings, scroll down to Flash and click the Arrow
  6. We’re almost there. Now, adjust the Flash settings to Ask First
  7. Refresh your browser and retry the Activity.
